Kohl's cares for kids

Just in case you didn't know....Kohl's sells $5 hardbacks and stuffed animals through their Kohl's Cares for Kids program. Right now they are featuring three Steve Jenkins' books, including Actual Size, one of my favorites http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/kids/kck.jsp

The Book Fair is coming!

Pack your bags for "Destination Book Fair!" Our Book Fair will be held November 3-10, with a teacher preview on Monday, November 2 at 3:15. Please don't forget about the "One For Books" donation box in the mail room. My goal is to get a book in the hands of each child at Gibson!

What we're working on this rotation (Sept. 30-Oct. 7)

Kindergarten & First Grade - we are learning about inference using the Elephant and Piggie books by Mo Willems. Then, we are playing a fun Elephant and Piggie game on the SmartBoard. http://www.pigeonpresents.com/fun.aspx

Second Grade - we are reading Tall Tales and writing our own fish stories!

Third, Fourth & Fifth Grades - we are working on learning how the Dewey Decimal System works and how to find books in the media center using a fun SmartBoard game.
